My Master

Psalms 123:1-2 says, "Unto You I lift up my eyes. O You who dwell in the heavens. Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their masters,as the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to the LOrd our God, until He has mercy on us."

As I read these verses and really began to reflect on them, I was struck by the impact of them. In the same way a servant looks to his master for help, mercy, instruction, guidance, and reward, we should also be looking to our Lord and Master! It is so easy to claim the Lord as our Master, but do we really treat him as such? Do we look up to Him at every moment? Are we completely focused on serving Him and doing His bidding? If a servant failed to follow the instructions of his master he would be punished or fired. Aren't we supposed to be servants of the most- High God?

To put it more into today's terms, if your employer told you to do something would you just write him off? Or if you continually disobeyed your employer and failed to complete your assignments wouldn't you expect some kind of punishment: a cut in wages or completely losing your job? You would never think of ignoring the assignments given to you by an employer. SO why do we do that to God, our ultimate Master? WHy do we always lose focus on the task?

Psalms 25:15 says, "My eyes are ever toward the Lord, for he shall pluck my feet from the net."

We do as our employer says so that we can be paid. Jesus may not pay us a weekly salary; however, He has already given the ultimate gift to us, etermal life. Is He asking too much in expecting us to look to Him now for our instructions, directions, and help? Of course not! We need to make sure we stay focused on our Master! We need to "keep our eyes ever toward the Lord"...just like a servant looks to his master!
